Hufflepuff House Cup Party

For the month of March, the boys have been participating in a school-wide reading competition. Each grade is placed into a different Hogwarts house and each week reading hours are counted and the house with the most hours wins the House Cup! Liam and Finn were in Hufflepuff this year and their house won! I'm so proud of how hard these boys work at school and how much they've grown this year. Because some of us have runny noses, nasty coughs and aches, I cancelled Friend Friday for the second week in a row. The children were so diappointed, so I suggested we celebrate the end of their reading month with our own Harry Potter party! They decided that might be fun. ;)

While they were at school, I hit up my favorite party store- Dollar Tree! I found everything I needed there and it cost me $25 total (all decor and snacks included). I decided to make Hufflepuff House the star of the party in honor of their win!

Black and yellow balloons, streamers, and poster board to make the crest. I also got a yellow and black plastic table cloth and cut them in half to hang as house flags. The Hufflepuff crest I printed off from Pinterest.

I found these artificial glowing candles and decided to hang them using clear string from the chandelier to give the impression there were floating.

As for the table, I used my favorite white table cloth and found some black star confetti to spread. For treats, I decided popcorn and cookies woud be fun to munch while we watched Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I also found little packages of Jelly Belly's in the Easter section, including Bean Boozled jelly beans. I thought these would be perfect as Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans and the wrapped chocolates looked similar to golden snitches.

I found these darling little snack cups for holding popcorn and treats while watching the movie.

When Liam walked through the door, he yelled "I think I'm gonna die! Mom, that's a phrase people use when they're happy. I'm not really going to die. I'm just really really happy!" #goodtoknow

Also, Spring Break has officially started for us. #yesyesyes The children have yet to tell me what they want to do...#staytuned

Have a great weekend!
