Mother's Day 2019

I'm posting about Mother's Day today, because yesterday was all about enjoying the gift of the day. The children and B brought me my favorite green smoothie in bed and beautiful homemade gifts, B got everyone ready for church so I could take my time, and I was able to spend the last hour of our service with the women in my congregation, recieving inspiration and chatting, catching up, and swapping stories about the joys and struggles of our lives. It was refreshing and left me feeling grateful for good friends, faith, and womanhood.

After church, we headed up to my parent's house to pay tribute to my wonderful mom, show off all the work dad and I have put into the "big garden" to B and the children, and enjoy the sunshine and greenery the day offered bountifully.

We spent the evening at the Johnson's, eating a delicious dinner prepared by my father-in-law and sitting on the lawn while the children tried their hand at some tennis. I watched Kate with her grandpa and thought how priceless it is for a girl to be surrounded by men who love her, support her, respect her, and cheer loudly as she accomplishes her goals and fulfills her dreams. Most importantly, she sees how her dad loves her mom every day and I can't imagine a greater gift for a young woman to feel confident, safe, and loved herself as she witnesses charity, respect, support, and partnership in the walls of her own home.

I'm so grateful for mothers. I have been lucky to be consistently surrounded by women who have taught me truth and how to love. I'm also grateful for the opportunity to be a mother myself. For the past 7 years, I've had heightened pain, fear, frustration, and exhaustion unlike anything ever previously experienced in my life. But, I've also experienced a level of joy, compassion, patience, understanding, sacrifice, and pure love that surpasses anything I imagined. My motherhood is a gift and I'm. So. Grateful. #blessedlife

Happy Mother's Day!
